HYDRAULIC CABLE LIFTING PRINCIPLES FOR MARINE ENVIRONMENTS

Hydraulic Boat Lift Priority One: Smart Design!

ShoreStation, a company that originated in the 50's as Midwest Industries and specialized in Hydraulic designs for agriculture has one of the best understandings of hydraulics in the marine industry.

With any type of lift, keeping the moving parts out of the water is important and with a hydraulic, this means your pump, cylinder and all fitting components out of the water. Cantilever hydraulic hoists have half of their mechanics beneath the waterline. Keeping vital components out of the water and in a more controlled environment leads to much higher reliability and less overall maintenance. The illustration below shows the hydraulic cylinder (#1), the lift cable (#2) and the leveling cables (#3).

With the ShoreStation hydraulic hoist, you do not need to worry about your boat falling into the water due to a pump, hose or fitting failure. A unique safety feature on the FlexPower hoist is the pressure valve in the hydraulic system that stops the hoist from dropping (image above #4) your boat into the water, even if a hydraulic hose is cut. With all of the fluid hoses out of the water, seals and fittings provide a longer life with fewer maintenance issues.

These lifts feature large diameter stainless steel lift cables operating over large diameter sheaves with self lubricating GARMAX® bushings. The simple design ensures no cable to cable contact, eliminating the possibility of the cables binding and damaging each other.

The "V" shape cradle rack beam design of the platform allows for operation in shallow water and provides more positive centering. In the up position, there are no moving parts left in the water which minimizes corrosion. Boarding step and distinctive Drop Side allow for easy entry and exit from your boat.
