Better than I expected! I was just looking for something quick and easy that kids would like, but this was a real winner with everyone, myself included. Followed the recipe exactly. Everyone asked me to make it again, and I will.

Followed this recipe but instead of baking pizza dough, I warmed 100% whole grain pitas and simplified the meal prep time. Additionally I topped the turkey + veggies with homemade salsa and shredded a combo of white cheeses. Super quick and tasty! :)

Delicious! Easy and fast, they even worked with ground chicken. I used a crescent rolls can and red and orange peppers. Will make again!

I tweaked the recipe. Added some chopped jalapeno peppers, a touch of cayenne pepper and doubled the spices (chili and cumin). I also used a turkey leg, meat chopped. I cooked the whole in a crockpot over 2 hours with a little water (thickened the water afterwards with some cornstarch). I also used shredded mozzarella cheese. I mixed afterwards with regular Tostito salsa. I didn't try the bean salad. Overall, we really enjoyed the new take on calzones and the spicy flavour. My only issue was in "sealing" the calzone shut. I made several and most of them came slightly opened. I tried pinching with my fingers, with a fork and turning the edge over in my fingers. I will definitely google "how to" next time I make the calzones to perfect this aspect. Enjoy!

These are great! I let the cooling fill as it makes the dough too mushy if it's warm.

This was excellent for a weekday meal, especially teamed with the black bean salad. The flavors were bold and bright. My teenagers raved about the black bean salad. This is going in the rotation. I doubled the filling recipe, because I always buy ground turkey by the pound, and it made an excellent salad the next day.

I use a pound of meat (either ground beef or turkey), double the other ingredients, and make plenty for leftovers. I also use whatever salsa I have on hand. A family favorite, for sure!

Recipe is good but to add a little Spanish flair add Black Beans(be sure to drain the beans) and Trader Joes"Roasted Corn" in the filling. Top with the Lite Sour Cream and slices of Haas Avocado. They are excellent, very easy to make and always receive thumbs up from the family and friends.

thought this was terrific. Was pretty easy to make - the thin pizza dough was a winner - kept them from having too much dough, but held together well. We used homemade salsa verde from tomitillos from our garden. Tried the black bean salad in the menu, but thought it was very bland - prob need to ad some jalepeno or at least some salt (my beans were no salt added).

Quick, easy, and tasty weeknight meal though I didn't really make "calzones." Used tortillas instead of dough. Also used regular salsa instead of salsa verde since that's what I had.

Great for Weight Watchers! Used 2% Mexican Blend Cheese, Lite Sour Cream and 93/7 Lean Ground Turkey. 9 Points Plus and worth it. Generous portion and very satisfying. Husband loved and ate two. Easier than I thought to make the calzones. A little tearing doesn't seem to matter much. It didn't leak filling all over the baking pan or make the dough soggy. Will definitely be sharing this at my next WW meeting! Excellent!

I made these on a Saturday night. They were easy to make, added just a little adobe sauce they were little dry. The pizza crust is so good and I did eat little more than I should have. Just that good.

This another great recipe from Cooking Light. I am a "at-home chef" I am always make modifications but this recipe doesn't need much. I usually add taco seasonings to ground turkey which gives it so much more flavor and I sprinkle it on the calzone dough before it bakes. Adding extra cheese and salsa to the mixture keeps it nice and juicy as well. The black bean salad is perfect choice to go with it as well.

I followed this recipe pretty closely and my husband and 9 yr old (who is not a huge fan of meat) both loved this! I enjoyed it too, although it was spicier/hotter than I expected - too much so for my non-adventurous 6 yr old. I did warm a small side dish of pizza sauce, as we are big on sauces, and it was a nice option. I did not make the black bean salad. We will make this again!

This was really quite good. I was on the fly tonight and used pre-made pizza dough from AJ's here in Phoenix. I did weigh the dough in hopes of keeping as close as I could to the caloric intake. Not quite sure about the bean dish on the side . . . going to work on that a bit more. Otherwise, a nice surprise!

We are on low carb foods due to slightly high glucose levels. Used a low carb tortilla instead of dough and it worked just fine. Ate the extra turkey the next day. Especially liked the bean recipe just as it is - and I usually am a "let's see how I can change this" cook!

This was alright. The filling was really good, however, I had a lot of problems making the calzones. I should have done what another reviewer suggested and assembled them on the baking sheet- they fell apart when I tried to move them from the prep area to the sheet. It wasn't much work, but it was a lot of cleanup. Not sure if I'd make this again, but if I do, I'd probably make it into a pizza pie.

These calzones and the black bean salad are a great every day meal. Not only are they tasty and healthy, prep and cleanup are both pretty quick, making them a new favorite for our house. We've found it's best to assemble them on the sprayed cookie sheet; they're too hard to move once filled w/o the dough tearing.

This was a very fun recipe to make and the black bean salad really rounds out the meal. Instead of a store-bought pizza dough, I used Cooking Light's Whole Wheat Pizza Crust recipe. It raised the fiber of the recipe while not altering the caloric content too negatively. To the filling, I added a bit of canned green chiles, but that's the only alteration I made. These were a hit.

Very good! My dough tore a little as I was making the pouches (and I also threw in extra veggies and meat), so I just brought up all the sides and pinched the top. Still cute, and cooked up great on my pizza stone. I had leftover meat because my grocery store only sells turkey in 1.35lbs., so I combined it with the bean salad, and it was fantastic for lunch the next day!

This is a good solid recipe which I will add to my family dinner repertoire. I used ground beef instead of turkey breast as the shop was out of turkey when I went. I also used double the amount, without considering the amount of dough (I made my own dough for a standard pizza). Because I forgot to double the dough as well, I had to roll it quite thin. It worked, but next time I will use the same proportions. My daughter is normally a finicky eater, and she loved it, so we will definitely make it again. I thought the salad was rather plain, and I will not make it again.

Quick, easy & good for work nights. The salsa verde I had was too hot for the kids so I subbed with regular salsa and I used ground pork instead of turkey. I also chopped the peppers quite small to hide from the kids. My 5 year old, who never asks for 2nds, had 3rds! I think for a more grown up version I'd use chorizo sausage. I'd also like to find a lower fat option for the crust as this was almost 1/2 the calories and fat.

I modified this recipe quite a bit as I used taco seasoning to season the meat and left out the peppers. My children would be more likely to eat it without the peppers. I'm filing this as a recipe that is good to make for children. You can virtually put anything inside the dough to customize the taste.

Dear Gayle, Part of cooking light's goal is to keep sodium down as well as fat and cal. a perfect example is when they tell you to cook pasta, they always say with out fat or salt. For me, rule number 1 about cooking pasta is salting the water. the same applies to many cl recipes. If you like or can handle salt--then add it. I'm sure if you added it here, you would not have considered it bland.

My main comment about this web site is that nearly every review mentions having to boot up the seasonings. Do you think the people who develope these recipes ever get the feedback that more seasoning is called for? This recipe is no exception. Great concept but bland, bland, bland.

Made this a few nights ago and was a big hit with the kids. I made it without the peppers since the family is not fond of them. Absence of peppers probably should have been compensated for with extra spices. All in all a very good recipe that we will be making again.

Overall, a good recipe. I was impressed that the calzone was actually crisp, not mushy. I made a few variations: no peppers, used 1/2 large yellow onion. I used a taco seasoning recipe I have on hand instead of the cumin & chili powder. Served with black beans mixed with rotel and lime juice.

Very tasty. Fun variation of typical Italian calzones. I didn't have any salsa verde so I threw in a small can of diced green chiles, some chopped jalepeno and bumped up the seasonings. I also used homemade pizza dough that I had premade for the freezer. I served with a Southwest Chop salad of romaine, bell peppers, corn and cucumbers tossed with a little light ranch dressing and salsa. Tasty!!

Liked the use of thin-crust pizza dough. As-written this is okay and the recipe is a good base which can easily be tweaked if you like more heat/more spice. Added some salt & pepper, 1/4tsp green New Mexico chile powder & 1/4 tsp chipotle powder. Trader Joe's salsa verde added a lot of liquid at the end, which I reduced over heat. Used low-fat cheese. Served with the recommended bean salad and warm tomato salsa. Quick and easy.

I have been trying to find a light calzone recipe for some time and this one seemed perfect since my family likes mexican flavors. I used shredded chicken instead of the ground turkey breast, could not find fire roasted salsa verde so I used regular salsa verde. Next time will use extra seasoning as others have suggested or maybe add some diced jalepeno. Served with the black bean salad suggested in the magazine. Good weeknight meal.

I've made another cooking light calzone recipe which was really outstanding. I just got this one in my newest issue of CL and on a weeknight, thought it would be a good idea. I like salsa verde so I thought I would like the flavors in this dish. I did really enjoy this, just not as much as the 'standard' calzone recipe (red sauce, etc). The calzone recipes are so easy to put together though, the longest part is the prep.
