“The food is in good season, well prepared and the portions are large. I really recommend the roasted chicken catering menu, it is delicious and delivered warm. The beans are excellent. The "fried mojarra" dish is not mojarra. It is tilapia and almost no bones compared to a mojarra.“

“NOTE: El Paisa in Oakland, and this place, are neck to neck in the east bay taco competition.The best suadero and carnitas tacos I've had East Bay, hands down, sometimes even better than El Paisa in East Oakland and I never ever thought I would say that. The old Guy running this place knows how to work a Comal (Choricera/Fritanga)I'm still reeling from the implications.Was told that the neighborhood's a little rough which is fine with me, I'd advise out-of-towners To come in the afternoon though. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. “So happy to find a delicious and friendly restaurant that doesn’t close in the afternoon in my neighborhood. We have been there several times in the past couple months and I’m still trying new things on the menu. My husband tried the ribs which he said were the best he’s ever had and half the serving went home with him. It was huge! Desserts are exceptional especially the flan. I’m still exploring their vegetarian options but so far my favorite is their version of chili relleno. Come and relax and enjoy the food and friendly atmosphere!“

“The food is really good! I tried the Torta Cubana and I don’t really like too much meat on those tortas, but this one it was really tasty, good amount of meat. And I also ordered some carne asada tacos good too! I’m definitely going back ? the only thing is that we wait like around 30 or 40 min, but I understand they are really busy now and even more with the delicious food they serve.“

“My family and I have been going to El Sol since 1984. The food is excellent, reasonable, large selection, quantity and the staff are so friendly, it’s like one big family. Their enchilada sauce is my favorite!“

“Always amazing! This place....I’ve been to about a dozen times, but this was the first time since this Covid-19 business. I walked up to the front door which faces the street, and ordered at the new ordering window, my mask donned. La Bamba remains delicious, Covid be damned. The Pupusas Revuelta was tender, juicy, handmade....perfect. Never gets old. The pickled cabbage, pickled to perfection. The salsa....a nice kick but not overbearing, not gonna overpower the pupusa, and provides a nice little bit of heat. I doubt I’ll ever get tired of this place.“

“Ferociously respectable tacos here. Carne asada, carnitas, and al pastor we're all absolutely on point, and their salsa roja, is rich and smokey almost like a mole, and the staff is hella cool. Five stars across the board.

Carlos is an expert chef, who sells out his excellent salsa first thing every day. So try to get there before 1:00 p.m., and get some while it's still there. These are the most delicious tamales in the East Bay area, made by a real craftsman who knows true Mexican tamale flavor.“

“Have been here a couple times, and it’s always utterly delicious. Plus, the folks who work their are so kind and friendly. I asked for veggie tacos one time, and not only were they flavorful and overflowing, but they even checked to see if I wanted their fresh handmade tortillas — anyone can do a great meat taco, but veggie tacos are harder to pull off without actual spices and attention to detail. Salsas are fantastic. I am in love with this place.“

“DAMN GOOD MEXICAN FOOD! I don't care what anyone says in the reviews, anyone giving this place less than a 4.5 does not know what they are talking about. This place is literally one of the only good places to eat authentic Mexican food. Their regular burritos are 10.95 and they are literally the size of other restaurants that charge you 13$ for "super" burrito and them shi be nasty. Bomb ahh asada fries, the guacamole is so good, it has a perfect mix of lime, pepper, salt and avocado. The tacos taste the same as the ones do in mexico, you want authentic? This place has tacos that are literally the same thing that they sell in Mexico, literally where tacos come from! (Specifically the ones from guadalajara, those are the ones it reminds me of). Burritos are fantastic. The asada is the best from every other taco place. If you want to find a better place you have to drive at least 30 more minutes south/southwest. This is an honest review by a real Mexican, not a gringo that only knows shell tacos and chimichangas.“

“Came in for late breakfast at 11am on a weekday. Ordered the huevos rancheros.Table was supplied with chips and salsa while the food was being prepared, which was really nice as I was hungry.The food arrived quickly, and was delightfully steaming hot. I like that. The eggs were perfectly set but not solid, and covered in sauce. The rice and beans were great, and were exactly what I was craving. The meal came with tortillas. I chose the flour tortillas and they were perfect for wrapping the eggs in.Price was very reasonable. Portions were generous. Restaurant was clean.The owner was working the register, taking orders, running plates to tables, and was still able to make conversation and display a great attitude.I look forward to returning and trying the lunch offerings.“

“We love visiting the place but on Saturday March 9, a waitress named Oneida made us uncomfortable by making vulgar comments about the Salvadoran women. My mother and my aunt are Salvadoran women and they felt offended. She was talking to gentlemen who were loudly making racist and vulgar comments at another table. And everyone hauling away the obscene.“
