One of the first production cars designed and thought to be the 22nd Porsche produced. Seinfeld’s car is number 40 of the 52 built between 1949 and 1950, only 30 still exist. It features a distinctive split windshield, mechanical brakes, and is powered by a 40 horse power air-cooled engine with two carburetors. The car was hand built, is all aluminum, and was manufactured at Porsche’s first location in Gmund, Austria. Seinfeld’s car was first used as a development car to perfect aerodynamics and mechanical components for the 356 L racecars at LeMans sports car race.
