James J. Yoder (December 18,1851-1924) was married on June 5, 1881, to Mary Jane McLain (August 1, 1851, Bedford Co., Pennsylvania-1917), the daughter of John and Mary Maria (Ketring) McLain. James and Mary Jane had five children, two died young, and three grew to adulthood, Maria, Henry and Christopher. James J., Mary Jane and their daughter Maria are buried in the Cain Cemetery.
In 1854 Mary Jane's parents moved the family from Pennsylvania to Decatur Count, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. Mary Jane had three sisters and nine brothers. Her brother Samuel McLain and her sister Elizabeth Bower were long time Mercer County residents.
