For this unique twist on the classic Greyhound, we went chilly and created a Greyhound co*cktail popsicle! co*cktail popsicles or “poptails” areincredibly fun to make and serve during hot summer days!

Here are some of our favorite summer treats!

These greyhound popsicles are made with fresh-squeezed juice, no added sugar, and a littlebit of vodka! You can’t go wrong with the icy texture and citrus flavors that make this such afun way to serve and enjoy a Greyhound.

They’re also striped. How charming is that?! To make a delicious co*cktail using, just pour a little champagne into the glass and add in a Greyhound popsicle, and voila!

The flavors melt into the champagne, and it tastes so good!! You can use the stick to stir the co*cktail while sipping. The best part is that you can make these co*cktail popsicles the day before for incredibly easy entertaining!

How to Make a Greyhound Popsicle

Ingredients

• Grapefruit Juice
• Orange Juice
• Vodka

Directions

• Squeeze the fresh juice and keep them separated in different bowls.

• Add 4 ounces 4 shots of vodka to the grapefruit juice and stir.

• Add 4 ounces 4 shots of vodka to the orange juice and stir.

• In a popsicle mold, add the first layer of juice, then let it freeze. Continue adding in layers and freezing in-between to get the pretty striped effect!

• Freeze overnight.

• For a fun co*cktail, serve them in a glass with champagne. They melt quickly, but it makes a wonderful flavor!

What is in a Greyhound Drink?

A greyhound co*cktail consists of grapefruit juice mixed with either vodka or gin. It’s very similar to a salty dog, which has salt around the edge of the glass.

Why is it called a greyhound?

The co*cktail was served at a popular restaurant chain called Greyhound that was located at a bus terminal called Post House.

Greyhound co*cktail Popsicles Variations

• Use gin instead of vodka
• Make an Italian version and use Campari in the recipe
• Add a dash of salt
• Use grapefruit vodka

Tips for Making Popsicles

Use fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice and orange juice.

Add all of the ingredients into a pitcher or a bowl with a spout and stir.

The spout is important because it makes it easy to pour into the popsicle mold. This is the popsicle mold we use all of the time.

Make sure to leave about 1/4″ space at the top of the mold to drop in a thin orange slice (remove the rind!) and for the popsicle to expand.

When juice and water freeze, it expands. If the juice and ice expand over the mold, it makes the removal of the lid on the mold harder. Also, you don’t get a clean edge to your popsicle.
